Problem Details:
I can't change my avatar even though the pic that I will be using is 76kb only

Is it the proper filesize?
It is recommended to be 128x128 and 88kb at max, but 256x256 is also fine (I believe that's the max though)

Yes, 128x128 is a standard size. Whether it's .jpg, .jpeg, or even .png can be used.
However 256x256 can also be used, with .jpg as the fille format.
Moreover, it's already stated here clearly.
