Sorry, I tried your video but the quality is low and it doesn't sync up with the music. It starts too late and ends too early.

The program I use is a small command line utility called pngslim. I suggest testing both 32 bit and 24 bit png in that program, because I've often got smaller files when I choose 32 bit in pdn before slimming. The final size of the image will obviously depends on the complexity of the image you happen to be compressing.
also, if you ever need/want to use jpeg...
don't use pdn to save it. pdn's jpeg export settings actually slightly blur the image in order to increase compressibility. GIMP, on the other hand, has some really good jpeg exporting options, and a lot of the time you can get jpeg to look nearly identical to lossless png. Unfortunately, I don't know how to effectively use GIMP, so I usually do my editing in pdn then flatten the image and copy the whole thing over to gimp if i need to save a jpeg version of the image.

Although, if file size needs to be small, pdn is just fine at making decent compromises when it comes to smaller file size jpgs.

That said, there was actually one tiny edit I applied to your bg before slimming it. The guy on the right has some rather apparent banding on his jacket (it can also be found in other gradients around the image, it's just most apparent on his jacket), so I applied a "surface blur" filter (Effects>Blurs>Surface Blur...). This filter applies a gaussian blur to the image, but only in places with similar colors, making it useful for reducing compression artifacts and color banding. The settings I used for the slight blur were "Radius: 6 (default)" and "Threshold: 3." Here you can see the before and after.

I also made a new version of bg_alt.jpg. I actually started with this image, because the high resolution allows me to use a somewhat heavier surface blur before resizing. This reduces the negative effects of the surface blur (jagged edges being the main concern). the surface blur actually reduces the complexity of the image somewhat, allowing the file size to be smaller. I then copied it over to gimp to save it as a jpg. Here is that:

I'm not really sure what you should do (other than ask someone else like me to re-encode, obviously :P), since I actually use avidemux for most of my video compression needs. I guess you should probably just try to get avidemux working w/ a fresh install or something :| anyway, here is the re-encoded video file (the target size was 15 mB. if it needs to be smaller, just pm me and I'll re-do it).

Thanks Ringating! I downloaded pngslim; it could be really useful in situations where file size is important. As for the video, I guess I can't do my own unless I get avidemux to work (I have tried all versions of 2.5 and 2.6 before and none worked ;w;)

I listened to both mp3's, and it looks like this one you cut this one from the full length one released from the OST. It's a little different. Listen at the "I SAY CRRYYYYYYYYY" part and you can hear a second voice in the background that the anime version doesn't have.

The OST's TV size version also sounds like the anime version, except that you're probably aware that it cuts a few measures out at the beginning, which is why we've been sticking with the anime version's mp3 all along.

However, I suppose it would work if you cut out the beginning of the OST full length song and the end of the OST TV size song and stuck them together seamlessly to make a higher quality mp3 that sounds like the anime version. As far as I'm aware, the OST TV size song is only different (from the anime version) until the vocals, and the OST full length song is only different (from the anime version) starting from the I SAY CRYYYYY part. Thus it should be safe to cut the mp3's anywhere between the start of vocals and the I SAY CRY part; full length songs could differ in places that I don't notice though, so I'd best err on the side of the OST's TV size and use as much of that as possible (only use the beginning part of the full length song).

I'd try doing this myself but I don't know enough about audio editing to be able to cut both OST mp3's at the exact point so that when pieced together there is not a millisecond of error compared to the anime version. I'm not sure how important that is, but if it is important I don't know how to use Audacity to like compare two songs and find the exact identical moments in both of them. Could you help me out?
