My videos were working totally fine. I was trying to add a video to a beatmap, but this certain video wasn't playing. All my other videos were fine. Thinking I could find a solution, I took to the forums. I came across a thread saying to delete the DLL files "avcodec-51.dll, avformat-52.dll, and
avutil-49.dll", then run the osu updater. I did, and now NONE of my videos play. The updater does nothing. This information was found under the resolved issues section, yet it did the complete opposite.

osu! version: b20140729.6

Thanks for your time

Do you have all of these DLLs in your C:\Program Files (x86)\osu! folder?
avcodec-51..dll
avformat-52.dll
avutil.dll
bass.dll
bass_fx.dll
d3dx9_31.dll
Microsoft.Ink.dll
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll
osu!gameplay.dll
osu!framework.dll
osu!ui.dll
osu.dll
pthreadGC2.dll
x3daudio1_1.dll
I'm not sure if every DLL I have listed is part of the default osu! client package.

Just checked, yes I have all of them. I downloaded the first three DLLs online to replace the old ones, though.

I also tried just reinstalling osu!, but it wouldnt install after seeing that I already had an installation. If anyone knows, where can I download the original osu! DLL files?

Thank you for your reply, by the way

Be sure to delete osu!.exe in order to fully reinstall.

Something must be interfering with the download of the new files. These codecs rarely are changed. I've seen the code that throws this error, it's certainly an issue with those codecs.

I'm not sure if the files have been changed for osu!, but here are some links to those codecs. Download at own risk.

I just replaced all of them, and it's still not working. Im just going to try to reinstall osu, while retaining my songs/replays/etc

Okay so what I ended up doing was:

-move entire osu! folder to different location (desktop)
-uninstall osu! via control panel
-download osu.exe from website
-install osu normally
-copy all songs/data/config files to new installation of osu!

Everything seems to be back to the way it was now. It was a rather roundabout way to fix the problem, I feel like replacing the DLLs should have fixed it, but it didn't. I know not to fuck around with the DLL files now. :?

Wow man this thread is a year old! lol

Yes, you can copy your beatmaps folder then just put it back. You don't have to delete them.

So I'm having this problem as well, does this mean that I should do what you did or replace the dll's all together? I haven't removed anything yet but it still gives me the error
