[Archived] osu! crashes after minimizing with ALT + TAB

Problem Details: Turn on fullscreen, pass any map and when score screen comes up use ALT + TAB to minimize osu!, once you maximize it again the game will either crash or restart. Also works if you go to skin selection, select any skin and ALT + TAB to minimize. This has been confirmed by several fullscreen players.

Operating System: Windows 8 (Possibly related to Windows 8)

Rendering: DirectX

Video or screenshot showing the problem: Will include in a few days.

osu! version: 20140721.1 (latest, had same problem on previous versions too)

My settings:

Fullscreen
Directx
Unlimited FPS
Windows 7

Did what you said. It just comes back up normally.

Maybe it relates to Windows 8 like you said?

I have the same issue. This is a legitimate problem. I have Windows 8 as well. If you watch my past two twitch streams, my osu! crashes under the same circumstances as the OP with or without OBS running. Pls fix this peppy. :'(

That's a bit different issue, but could be related.

It crashes really randomly and often for me, doesn't matter if I alt tab in the editor, in the score screen, or the main screen, it's a 50/50 chance that osu! will crash in any of those. I'm running Windows 7 by the way, DirectX obviously, FPS uncapped. And yeah, it only happens with full screen enabled.

I know this has been happening for a while with people that have osu! in fullscreen. I do not play fullscreen, but I have tested it and it has crashed for me while alt tabbing in fullscreen as well. I have never had the problem happen while using windowed.

Consistent way to replicate:

1. Restart osu! in fullscreen mode (doesn't always work for me without a fresh boot)
2. Click Song Selection, then press windows key or alt+tab to leave the osu! window
3. Wait a couple seconds and tab back in

I can't replicate at the results screen at all unfortunately.
