My osu! client suddenly started to crash at startup - the game would just freeze and I had to close it through task manager. I ran the 'repair osu!' file which helped sometimes but the problem would come back every 2nd/3rd start. As such I backed up my skins and maps, deleted all local configs and reinstalled osu! using the most recent download from the website. After that I put my maps and skins back into the folder and the problem persists, but now I am not able to start at all. The game freezes everytime. I don't know what causes it, the runtime log reads that (at the bottom of the file):

30/07/2018 11:02:02: GL Context: Index: 10, Color: 32 (8888), Depth: 24, Stencil: 0, Samples: 0, Accum: 64 (16161616), Buffers: 2, Stereo: False
30/07/2018 11:02:03: Detected a change in folder/file count (changed from 2 to 3623)

The update_success log says:

30/07/2018 11:02:01: CallbackStatus updated to Checking
30/07/2018 11:02:01:
30/07/2018 11:02:01: Beginning update thread
30/07/2018 11:02:01: Stream: Stable40
30/07/2018 11:02:01:
30/07/2018 11:02:01: Running cleanup..
30/07/2018 11:02:01: Cleanup successful!
30/07/2018 11:02:01: Requesting update information...
30/07/2018 11:02:02: No changes to apply!
30/07/2018 11:02:02: Saving out global config
30/07/2018 11:02:02:
30/07/2018 11:02:02: Ending update thread with result: NoUpdate
30/07/2018 11:02:02:
30/07/2018 11:02:02: CallbackStatus updated to NoUpdate

Any other information I need to provide? My specs are Windows 10, Geforce GTX 1050ti, i7-7700hq, 8gb ram.

It sounds like a complete set of jargon, but here - here is explanations.

The GL Context references OpenGL, the game's native renderer.
The change in folder/file count is self-explanatory.

In update_success, it get's a lot more complicated.
CallbackStatus must have something to do with the updating procedure, therefore setting it to "Checking".
When it begins an update thread, it tells some update server that you are using Stable40 (just Stable in-game) and it performs a cleanup.
It's requested the update information, but it's found no changes to apply.
It's just saved the global configuration.
It's ended the update procedure due to there being no update and it's reverted CallbackStatus.

Delete all skins and maps, add them one at a time and delete the map/skin that is causing the issue.

disable everything in focus assist tab in windows settings

Please look for a crash log in your event viewer that might shed more light on what the actual issue is before spending your time manually moving all of your map around. https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/638421?start=6231904

Has this ever actually caused anyone's game to crash? It's just known to make tabbing in and out slow.

Below you can find the windows event crash log. After a minute or so I just manually close the game, because it's not going anywhere. However running as administrator seems to work for now, so that's what I'm doing.

Is the game actually running at least? Do you hear any audio playing or anything?

Can you access the options at least?

Did you happen to move "osu!.db" over from your old install to your new one? Can you try removing it if you did?

Hi Death, no I deleted all contents and the client was processing beatmaps after the fresh install. For some reasons it stopped crashing as often when running normally today, I still keep running as administrator just to be safe. If you want any other information let me know, but for now I'll just keep running as admin. Thanks for all the help.
