Problem Details:
Having a highlight parameter in the url when in a topic prevents you from moving to other pages. The only easy fix for that is to remove the highlight parameter from the url, leaving only the topic ID

ex: t/435655?hilit=switch+for+mania
pressing next page sends you to this url but you still stay on page 1
and t/435655/hilit=switch+for+mania&start=15
pressing next page again yields this url (still page 1)
t/435655/hilit=switch%2Bfor%2Bmania%26amp%3Bstart%3D15&start=15
and pressing it again
t/435655/hilit=switch%2Bfor%2Bmania%26amp%3Bamp%3Bstart%3D15%26amp%3Bstart%3D15&start=15
and this goes on until infinity
