[Archived] "Video Playback failed" error

Problem Details:

I am making this new beatmap and I made a video for it. However osu's refusing to play it. xD The video's 20 minutes long, if that's the problem. Also, I tried with
720p mp4 and 480p avi and they both gave the same error. I ran the updater and deleted the .dll files and it still doesn't work. I also can't find a video-debug.txt thingy. Someone please help! D:

What's the size of the video? Maybe it's too big to load properly (a 20 minute video is insane already)

That's what I'm thinking. The video size is probably waaaaaay too much for a map. You can check this by going to your beatmap's folder.

just maayyybee the videos I tried with are 4GB / 1GB respectively...

Should I just compress with Handbrake?

EDIT: Compressed with Handbrake, 471 MB, still the same error. v.v

Compression probably wont solve the problem, you'd need to re-encode the thing down to extremely small proportions even more if you want to fit a 20 minute video in.

You can follow blissfulyoshi's guide on re-encoding here, although it may be out of date being 4 years old.
