Gurren lagann is still one of favorite anime of all time. Just because of it's epic story, but another reason is because of it"s ending. after I finished it I just wanted to curl up in my blanket and cry. so do any of you guys think it is depressing? if so, please give me your explanation.

I personally don't find the ending depressing. Maybe because I'm not a fan of Nia.
But it's because the series actually has compelling plot and interesting characters, and that's a rarity in anime since it's a lot easier to adapt something that's already popular and the majority of people who watch anime seem to not care about the writing.

I wasn't a fan of Nila so I didn't really care but I think if it ended on a happier note then I might not be looking at the anime the same way I do now.

To be blatantly honest, I didn't like the way how they killed Nia. Maybe they should have extended his life a bit more. And I felt his death was a bit expected because of the story formula
