I was experiencing lag lately so I decided to try out OpenGL Renderer. But when I opened osu, again, the lag became way worse. Everytime I went to options, it would just freeze, flashing on and off every second. I heard you need to reset your config but I have no clue where. If it's on osu itself, I won't be able to access it. Help is much appriciated.

osu! version: 20141122 (latest)

Go in your config and set "renderer" to "d3d"

I sadly can't find my config anywhere. Can't seem to remember where I placed it.

It should be osu!.<username>.cfg

I've attempted to search for it but it's either not there or it's having troubles finding it

Hold SHIFT while opening osu! and set it back to DirectX.

I finally found it. What method should I use to open it? I used Internet Explorer ( Chrome was apparently not available ) but I wasn't able to change anything. Then I used Notebook to change it but is that it?

I've tried holding Shift but nothing happened. If it involves changing it in the program or in osu, it won't work.

You have to change osu!.(pcusername).cfg

Here's the tutorial:
1. Click on osu!.exe so that it's selected.
2. Press and hold SHIFT.
3. Press ENTER while still holding SHIFT, so that osu! launches.

Editing the .cfg file can be done with any text editor. (Wordpad, Notepad, IE, Dreamweaver, whatever.)
Look for the line "Renderer = " and change it to "Renderer = d3d"

If you'd hold shift while opening osu! it would do this for you automatically, with a nice UI.
I don't understand how you cannot get this to work.

Describe the kind of lag, and provide a video of it if possible.

Also look trough the following thread and try out things suggested there:
