I like this idea, having a set of backgrounds allow skinners to put more than one BG related to their skin, but... I don't really like the idea of a timer. Third idea is way better imo, you just get a new random BG each time you come back to the menu (or launch osu!).
I don't like the idea of a timer cause it could make people starring at the menu as said in the topic. Also a timer based on something less than a minute would be ridiculous imo, think about this:setbackgroundchange=1

This is a worthy suggestion. I don't consider it invalid. Many people will want to have this option.

I really really really hope this will get added, for me personally, it is very important to have a variety of backgrounds. Right now, as we do not have this feature, I end up switching background every two days or so, and if I could just have about 100 different background in my skin folder ("menu-background001, 002...) and they would randomize, that would really make people like me very happy. Long ass bump. Forgot this existed.
Would be a great addition. Even tho many wouldn't like it, it can be optional like how skins can be animated.

It is 100% possible at this moment, I mean look at the holiday updates, there where also multiple backgrounds, why not add this as a feature already. JUST DO IT. I have a folder waiting with 1576 backgrounds!!!!
I really hope this happens because i always end up switching skins for the background, and it would be so much easier to just have one skin that randomizes the background for me

I think ppy can really advance this stuff by adding different backgrounds which will be anchor to the time u have (nightly/morning/daylight wallpapers) and season of the year (snowy/shiny/falling sakura backgrounds and more, it have unlimited possibilities up to celebrations). Maybe, it can be a good add to your feature...

It's funny to me that non-supporter osu! accounts can have rotating menu bgs but supporter accounts are limited to 1 menu bg
