I tend to play any map, anyway. I like to be pleasantly surprised when it comes to music. Who knows, maybe it'll end up being something I like? If I don't like it, well, at least I gave it a chance. At least I don't delete it entirely based on its BG or preview. I'd be possibly missing out on something I find extraordinarily fun.

I generally don't mind playing unfamiliar songs if the music is bearable.
If the song sucks it doesn't affect my opinion of the map. I only download beatmaps from very good mappers and songs I like  Oh and mogs doublepost :< mtmcl wrote: I find it funny that a potentially haxed score inspired lesjuh to make a legit FC. |

My decisions are very much tuned in with my own music habits. Although I'm more likely to pick out something I already know or expect good from, I'll willingly take anything that comes across as good to me. Obviously, I won't play a map that's bad, but since this is the case of good quality maps, yes, enjoying the music is a factor (along with the second, being mapping style).

I don't mind playing new sony if they not so horrible... I usually get familiar with them if I like it.

I'll Download maps of songs I like or sound good from the preview, but it's usually those maps I play the least, I find, the maps I downloaded cause I one, modded it, or two, I heard it was good, are the ones I play the most as the songs I like don't seem to get very good maps for them. So I'll play maps if they're my kind of music or fun, but I prefer playing fun maps over crap maps with good music.
Warning: I take mod requests in the #mod channels and only there. DO NOT forum PM or chat PM or you will go on my personal blacklist. This excludes people who I respect for one reason or another. I have left the MAT as I feel as though I wasn't doing anything to justify being there. |

Second option. Being able to get a preview of the song before downloading it was the best thing to happen to osu!, in my opinion. When I'm in the mood to play, I usually check all recent maps to see if any of them sounds interesting... and well, I don't touch those I dislike.
I've found some pretty awesome songs thanks to osu!.  long names! Failing osu!, one map at a time! |
